Obituary:
Robert D. "Bob" White, 77, of Lost Nation, Iowa, died Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa, after an extended illness. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lost Nation. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Menzo Widle Post 381 of Lost Nation.

Robert "Bob" Duane White was born July 30, 1929, in Lost Nation, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Della (Paulsen) White. He grew up in the Lost Nation area, received his education and graduated from Lost Nation School in 1948. In 1951, during the Korean Conflict, he enlisted in the Air Force. He served for four years and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He drove farm to market livestock trucks for his dad's business, White's Trucking. In 1959, Bob married Madge Galloway in Lost Nation. He continued working for White's Trucking until he bought the business in 1972. In 1990, he sold the business and retired. After retirement, he drove a truck during the busy season for the Lost Nation Cooperative.

Bob was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation, a 52 year member of the American Legion, served a term on the Cemetery Board and was a volunteer Fireman in Lost Nation for several years. He liked to travel with his wife and family, play cards, and thoroughly enjoyed his kids, grand kids and friends. His interests included anything with airplanes or trucks.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Madge; two sons, Mark (Janice) White, of Marietta, Ga., and Martin (Andrea) White of Alpharetta, Ga.; two daughters, Michelle (Graham) Wood, of Cedar Rapids, and Mary (Tim) McAleer of Evergreen, Colo.; five loving grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Breeze of Longview, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Milton, and a niece, Laurie.
