Zelma "Buddy" Hechler, 98, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, in a local care facility. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Wheat, pastor of Berea Baptist Church, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
The daughter of W. F. and Louise Hechler, Zelma was born on June 28, 1908 at the family home in the Luther Community. She grew up in the Luther Community and attended school in Luther. She married Otto Hechler on April 9, 1928 in Big Spring and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1972. She and her late husband farmed in the Luther Community. She was a lifelong resident of Luther, until moving to Big Spring in 1999. She resided at the Marcy House and was lovingly known as "Granny". She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Luther. The church was built on land that was donated by her father.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.
The family will be at 709 Avondale.
The family suggests memorials be made to Home Hospice, 111 E. 7th St., Suite A, Big Spring, TX 79720.
