Co. D 93rd Regt. PA Vol. Inf.

William Kale, a highly-respected and well known resident of Cornwall, died on Monday, aged about 58 years, from dropsy of the heart. Deceased was favorably known in this city, as he had been a good soldier in the late war and was son of the late Peter Kale, who in his day was well known here. He had been in the employ of the Coleman estate for many years. He leaves to survive a wife and three children, all of whom have the sympathy of many friends The wife of Samuel Boltz, grocer, residing on Spruce street, is a sister of the deceased. Lieut. Kale was one of the first Union volunteers to leave Lebanon for the war and was a member of Co. G, Fifth regiment. After being discharged at the end of his three months' service he again enrolled as First Sergeant of Co. D, 93d Pa regiment and in 1863 was promoted to lieutenancy in Co. G of the same regiment. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with services in the Cornwall Lutheran church. Surviving comrades of the 93d who propose attending his funeral will leave C. & L. depot at 8:52 a. m. Thursday morning for Cornwall. [Lebanon Daily News, August 17, 1897, Page 4]
