Thank you Greetings, Find A Grave contributor Ralph Hammond-Green for sending me the copy of his death certificiate.

Grandpa Harper worked for the Rail Road. Every day on the way to Cleveland Ohio, they would pass a restuarant that was very close to the tracks. The daughter of the restuarant had very long long hair, and she would wash her hair in the morning, set out on the steps and brush it dry before she would start her waitress job for her parents.
Grandpa Harper would tell the guys on the train...Im gonna marry that girl. SO one day, he told the engineer to slow down, he was going to jump off and talk to her, they could pick him up on the way back. She of course being prim and proper....ran inside and wouldn't talk to him...and him being Irish and stubborn, went inside and had breakfast, making her wait on him. Long story short...after about 3 times of him doing that, he proposed to her, she said ok...and then the battle was on. Great Grandparents thought him nothing but a "DANDY" and they would disown her if she married a railroadman. She did...they did and when my Grammy Mabel was about 7 it was the first time that she ever met her granparents.
Grandpa Harper loved his wife dearly and when she died, he just gave up. When he died they all said it was from a broken heart!
