Dorothy Ann Easley Cook, Ph.D., 82, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at an Abilene medical center.

The daughter of Maude (Raney) and William James Johnson, she was born on November 2, 1924, in Clarksville, Texas, and moved from Paris, Texas to Abilene in 1960.

Having been a public school teacher for 20 years, she returned to college and earned her Ph.D. in education from East Texas State University. Dr. Cook finished her teaching career as Professor of Education at McMurry University, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene, where she was a member of the LLL Club and Majestic Sounds Choir. She was also a member of Social Order of the Beauceants, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gama.

Dr. Cook was preceded in death by two husbands, William Lowell Easley (d.1966) and William Russell Cook (d.1990); a son, Lowell Craig Easley (d.1997); her parents; her stepmother, Mrs. W. J. Johnson, and a brother, Jimmy Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, James Michael Easley of Abilene and Paul Kelly Easley of Royce City, Texas; a stepson, John Ira Cook of Houston; a daughter, Jean Ann Easley of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to the donor's charity of choice.
