Bobby (Bob) Lee Dean, 81, of Memphis, TN went Home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 18, 2016. Bob was born in Iuka, Ms on October 28, 1935 to Pleas and Gola Dean. Bob graduated from Iuka High School in 1953 and afterwards moved to Memphis, TN to attend Draughons Business College. On June 10, 1956 Bob married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Hamm. Bob and Barbara were blessed with 3 wonderful children, Kim, Keith and Todd. Bob worked in the trucking business for many years before finally retiring from Continental Traffic Service in 2001. Barbara had worked from home babysitting for many years, so after he retired from his "real" job he jumped right in to helping her with the babysitting. In his free time, Bob loved to play the piano. He took a few piano lessons as a child, but then ultimately taught himself how to play thereafter. He shared his talent every Sunday at Germantown United Methodist Church where he would play before Sunday school and he also played at a local nursing home for the residents there once a month. Bob was also an avid gardener, and spent many hours in his yard tending to his many plants and flowers, and the occasional tomato and cucumber plants in the summer months. Bob and Barbara also loved to play Scrabble and they even have a notebook with the score of every game they played for over 30 years! Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Bill Dean and Scott Dean, and one sister, Joan Holly. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Dean, children Kim Crase, Keith (Chris) Dean, and Todd (Jackie) Dean. He was "Papa" or "Pa" to 5 grandchildren, Jessica (Mickey) King, Patrick (Tiffany) Crase, Brandon Dean, Cody Dean, and Holly Dean, and also to 5 great grandchildren, Parker, Owen, and Ella Cate King and Gemma and Cash Crase. He is also survived by one sister, Jean Hester, and 2 brothers Jack Dean and Tommy Dean. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22 until service begins at 12:30 p.m. at Germantown United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Forest Hill East Cemetery and reception to follow burial. In lieu of flowers Bob asked that donations be made to the music department at Germantown Methodist Church. The family would also like to thank Wendy and Cary Rotter and the Comfort Keepers Staff and also the hospice nurses that helped care for him.
