Jack Gordon Truckle died Dec. 30, 2006, at his home in Bozeman, following an extended illness. He died peacefully with family members nearby.

He was born March 9, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to William and Geraldine (Ellens) Truckle. Jack graduated from Creston High School in Grand Rapids and attended Grand Rapids Junior College. He spent many summers of his youth on his grandfather's farm near Cannonsburg, Mich. Jack married the love of his life, Suzanne Shultz, on Feb. 16, 1951, and they were together for more than 55 years. They had two children, Jack Steven and Daniel Mark.

Family was the most important thing in Jack's life. Jack was a loving and generous husband, brother, father and grandfather. His passing is a tremendous loss to his family, and he will be dearly missed.

Jack had a long and successful career with General Motors Corp., starting in 1953 at Fisher Body Grand Rapids Trim Plant. He excelled at his job and advanced steadily, eventually becoming assistant manager of the Grand Rapids plant. In 1984, he was promoted to director general of General Motors Vestiduras Fronterizas plant in Juarez, Mexico. During this period he learned to speak Spanish and enjoyed many memorable experiences working with the Mexican people.

Jack retired from General Motors in 1990 and moved to Padre Island, Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico. He moved to Bozeman in 1994 to be close to his children and grandchildren. During his retirement, he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and taking them on cross-country trips to Michigan and Texas. Jack was a longtime member of the Masons, a past monarch of the Lalakoum Grotto, and was a member of the Plainfield Methodist Church in Grand Rapids.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Bozeman; sisters, Marion Truckle and Francis Davis of Grand Rapids; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Donna Truckle of Cardwell; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Hargrave of Butte; grandchildren, Jackson Truckle of Reno, Nev., and James Truckle of Bozeman; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Geraldine and William Truckle; son, Dan Truckle; brother, Harry Truckle; and sister, Betty Stoneman. A private family service was held and burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman.

Memorials are preferred to Pintler Pets Humane Society, P.O. Box 1204, Anaconda, MT 59711.
