HOULKA - Irene Funderburg Washington, 87, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the Trace Regional Hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Calhoun County to James Walter Funderburg and Laura Annie Kirkpatrick Funderburg. She was a homemaker and the widow of George Ordell Washington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Houston Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Samuell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann and Curtis Vance of Mountain View, Ark., and Sarah and Marlon Lancaster, and Martha and Jerry Vance, all of Houlka; four sons, George and Mildred Washington of Woodland, Bobby Washington, and James and Judy Washington, all of Houston, and Terry and Pat Washington of Houlka; a brother, William Funderburg of Memphis; three sisters, Katie Oxner of Greenville, Jean Gregory of Pontotoc and Helen West of Illinois; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Faye Washington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
