William "Bill" Young died peacefully Dec. 28, 2006, in Deer Lodge.

Bill was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Missoula. He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Europe for most of his tour.

He was a retired general contractor and manufacturer of gold mining equipment. The most important part of Bill's life was his family. He enjoyed fishing, gold prospecting, being in the mountains and sharing wonderful stories.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maxine; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill (Kathy), Chris (Marsha), Mike (Camilla); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Private placement of ashes will take place at a later date. Family and friends will celebrate Bill's life this spring at the Youngs' residence.

Jewell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
