Sophie Tomecsek, 83, formerly of Walnutport and Allentown, died Dec. 30, 2006, in the emergency room of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late John Tomecsek Sr. She was born March 21, 1923, in Palmerton, a daughter of the late Peter and Tatajana (Skotiec) Lukasezich. Sophie was a devoted mother and housewife. She was of the Russian Orthodox faith and a former member of St. George Russian/Greek Orthodox Church, Palmerton.
Survivors: Son, John and wife Judith Ann of Allentown; stepdaughter, Jo Ann Nelson of Prior Lake, Minn.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Agnes Evans in Virginia. She was predeceased by brothers, Victor and Tony, and sisters, Jennie Andress and Verna Gontar.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Call from noon until the services Friday. Burial, Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
