Mrs. Ed B. Griswold, former Winterset resident, died Friday at her home at 2811 School street in Des Moines, after a long illness. Mrs. Griswold, who was 81 years of age, was the former Mary Harrington. She was born in Westchester, Vermont and moved to Dexter, with her parents in 1880. She was married in 1889 to Mr. Griswold and they moved to Winterset, where he owned and operated a drug store where the Miller Drug is now located.

She was active in church and club activities in Winterset. In 1909 the Griswold family moved to Des Moines and that place had since been their home. She was a member of the Cottage Grove Presbyterian church in Des Moines.

She is survived by her husband pioneer Iowa Pharmacist and one daughter and two sons; Delia Griswold Green and H. H. Griswold of Des Moines and Leland M. Griswold of Phoenix, Ariz. She also leaves nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were held at Dunn's Funeral home in Des Moines at 10:30 a.m. and burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.
