Harold Smith McManus, 76, passed away Saturday night, November 19, 2016, at the Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury after battling glioblastoma brain cancer for 9 months but was seriously ill for 5 days.

He was born September 18, 1940 in Chesterfield, SC. He graduated in 1959 from A.L. Brown High School. For 3 years, he took night classes at Piedmont Bible Institute in Cramerton, NC and graduated in April of 1972. In 1984, he became a licensed plumber and worked for Fieldcrest-Cannon and Fluor M&I's Plant 1 in Kannapolis. He also owned and operated McManus Plumbing Service.

He was a faithful and humble servant of Jesus Christ. His heart's desire was to bring people to Jesus. He loved nothing better than being on the church Visitation Team. He was a member at Faith Baptist Church (the former Faith F.W.B. Church) for 47 years and he is now a member of Ben Avenue F.W.B. Church. He loved to tell jokes and make those around him laugh.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Patricia Keaton McManus. His sons, Brian Timothy McManus and wife Wendy G. McManus of Concord and Harrell Jonathan McManus and fiancé Susan Regrut of Kannapolis. His precious granddaughters, Chelsea McManus and her mother Angel Jordan and Lerrah McManus and her mother Sara McManus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Rustin McManus and Mamie Jordan McManus; His brothers, William G. McManus, Dallas McManus, infants Bobby and Monroe McManus; and his sister, Minnie Faye McManus.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. James Pauley and Rev. Don Draughn will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home, 1215 Highway 153, China Grove.
