Obituary
Dale Hawkey, 81, died Thursday (Nov. 17, 2016) at Asbury Park in Newton. He was born April 10, 1935, in Newton to Willard and Mary (Magnison) Hawkey. He married Judy Goetschius on May 13, 1956, in Newton, and she survives of the home.
Dale was retired as a purchasing agent for Full Vision in Newton, where he retired after 25 years of service. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and doing yard work. Dale enjoyed carpentry and built his family's home in Newton. One of Dale's greatest joys was his family, and he looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends.
Dale is survived by his wife Judy of Newton; daughter, Kathy Garriott of Wichita; brother and sister-in-law Gene and Doris Hawkey of Newton; and grandsons, Jeff Garriott and his wife Amanda of Andover, Mark Garriott and his wife Jessica of Bel Aire and Scott Garriott of Wichita. He is also survived by his great-grandson Jonas; two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law Delbert and Darlene Hawkey and their son (Dale's nephew) Steve Hawkey.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2016) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Donna Voteau presiding.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday (Nov. 21, 2016), with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to Better Breathers Class at Newton Medical Center or Kansas Rheumatology Alliance, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
