Arthur Harry Cleghorn, Sr., 93, departed this life on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Leigh Hall Assisted Living Home under hospice care.
He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Iona Cleghorn; three brothers, Edgar, Wellington, and Walter Cleghorn. He also was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Hester K. Cleghorn.
He is survived by two sons, Harry Cleghorn and wife, Vivian, of Norfolk, VA and Gabby Cleghorn and wife, Jean, of Kill Devil Hills, NC; three grandsons, Gary Cleghorn and wife, Tracey, of Elizabeth City, NC, Lance Cleghorn and wife, Tracey of Suffolk, VA, and David Holloman and wife, Colleen, of Boone, NC; as well as many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
He was a member of First Nazarene Church for 60 years and a member of Central Nazarene Church until now. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of IBEW Electrical Union for 66 years. He worked for Virginia Carolina Electrical for 20 years and for Ocean Electric for 20 years.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com
