Jimmy L. Craig, age 68, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Mt. Carmel W. Hospital. Jim was born December 27, 1944 in Columbus, OH to Clarence "Shorty" Craig and the late Marie Hartung. He was a 1962 graduate of Franklin Heights High School and retired with 29 years of service as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement he worked at Bobb Chevrolet. Jim loved sports and spent many years mentoring and developing young men while coaching baseball for Brookshire Baseball, the American Legion, and West High School. He loved baseball, football, fishing and bowling; but his real passion was hunting. His favorite teams were the Cincinnati Reds and OSU Buckeyes. He was a charter member of the St. Patrick Rd. Block Watch. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Marie and Jack Hartung, sister Jackie (Robert) Engle, brothers Raymond "Butchie" and Clarence "Eddie" Craig, and nephew Joe Castel. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Shorty and Darlene Craig; the love of his life, Barbara; stepsisters, Kathy (Frank) Casey, Karen (Dr. James) Murphy and Karla (Mike) Melia; stepbrother, Kenny (Kathy) Dohmen; daughters, Kimberly (Jason) Henry, Tamara (Daniel) McFarland; sons, Bill (Tina) Monk, Jimmy (Libby) Craig Jr. and their daughters, Ava and Rubie; grandchildren, Stephanie McFarland, Abby and Cameron Craig and their mother, Angela Craig, Mackenzie and Kendall Craig and their mother, Heidi Craig, Kyle, Kristopher and Kameron Henry, Wiley, Owen, Ian and Zachary Monk. He also leaves behind "special" nieces, Cheryl Castel, Vikki (Chad) Perkins, Rebecca (Vince) Vernon; "special" nephews, Scott Craig, Michael (Lena) Craig and Joel McNair. Friends may call Monday, November 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St. where service will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery. We would like to say thank you to Dr. Terek Chidiac and the staff of the Zangmeister Center, Dr. Gladstone McDowell and his assistant Kristy of Integrated Pain Solutions and the staff of Mt. Carmel W. MICU. Our special thanks to the Gem City Home Health Care and their care providers, Kim Anderson, Kay Leonard and Hoda Mead for their outstanding service to Jim in his final weeks.
