Barbara Sue Benson, 77, of Piggott, Arkansas, was born November 2, 1934, in Piggott in the Langley Community to Herbert (Dutch) and Lula Hayes Dover. She had been ill for some time and was ready to meet her Savior. She passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, at the St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
She was married June 3, 1955, in Piggott, Arkansas, to Donald McKinley Benson. This marriage was blessed with three children, Patricia Denise, Donna Sue, and Douglas Dewayne.
Donna was born June 23, 1959, and lived until July 5, 1959. Dewayne passed away December 28, 2005, at the age of 42.
Sue and Donald raised Dewayne's two daughters, Ashley and Tory Benson.
She accepted Christ and was baptized in August of 1950 at Shady Grove Baptist Church east of Piggott and has been a faithful and loving member.
Sue was a lifelong resident of Piggott having worked as a dietitian at Piggott Nursing Home for some 25 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Ethridge, Clifford, and Marvin; and sister, Roberta Stoeffler.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at Shady Grove Church with Mike Book officiating and Shawn Parker assisting. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home.
