William was born the 7th of 13 children of Jessie Russell & Ollie Huneycutt.
William was preceeded in death by wife Carol, daughter Sheila Dennis, grandson Adrian Dennis, and 9 of his siblings.
He is survived by son, Rodney Russell, grandson, Derek Dennis, & great-grandchildren, Gage, Riley, Corbin, Caleb, Culvan, and Silas Dennis.
William honorably served his country in the United States Army and Navy during WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Spruce Pines. William enjoyed traveling and loved dancing.
