Mrs. Jessie Lorine Bryant, 93, of Atwood died Friday, May 30, 2014, at her residence.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Fuller and Rev. John Wade Bryant, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

She was born March 4, 1921 to the late Robert (Bob) Bell and Pearl Duke Bell. A family of nine siblings, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Dee Bell; Six Sisters, Ruby Williams, Ruth Phillips, Nover Williams, Willie Smith, Jossie Pearson and Lucy Bryant.

Marriage

Mark 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.

On December 25, 1940, she entered her 69 year union with J. W. Bryant, to whom she remained faithful until his death. To this union was born four daughters.

She is survived by Lucy C. Taylor, Lurlene (Earl) Adkisson, Deborah Bryant, Loretta (Willie) Wilkes, daughters; Luther B. Bryant, Sr., brother-in-law—all of Atwood, TN; Mary Elizabeth Bryant, Atwood, TN and Carolyn Bryant, Indianapolis, IN, sisters-in-law. She also leaves to cherish her memory six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a special nephew B. C. Bell and a host of nieces, nephews, and close relatives.

Jessie Bryant was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive MBC where she accepted Christ at an early age. As a devoted servant to the Word of God, she served as Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the choir. She loved her Church and was willing to serve wherever needed.

Work

Proverbs 31:10, 20 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

A lover of family, she was an excellent homemaker. She also worked for Milan Mills and Milan Army Ammunition Plant, Milan, TN. She loved to cook and it was her love for people that motivated her to prepare the many dishes for her family and friends. She spent her lifetime helping others whenever and however she could.
