Eva worked with the playgrounds for the Port Huron Recreation Department before taking a job with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. She transferred to Tennessee Bell Telephone Co. in 1971 and moved to Nashville, TN., retiring in the late 1990s.
Eva was a fan of all sports and was a huge Tennessee State Tigers fan. She loved golf, bowling and was a youth center volunteer after her retirement. She returned to Port Huron in 2011.
Eva especially loved being with her family and is survived by her four children, Elizabeth Kaye Price, Terry Diggins, & Sandra C. Woodyard, all of Port Huron, and Bonnijean (Larry) Milligan of New York, NY; her daughter-in-law, Valerie Diggins of Midland, MI; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; her sister, Sheppie Moore of White Plains, NY; and several nieces & nephews. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Thelma Jean Spigner of Port Huron and Mary Lee Mickins of Racine, WI, many dear friends, and her care takers, Lori Malcom and Denise Diggins. She was preceded in death by two children, Judith Meadows and Fletcher Diggins, three brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. Committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Lakeside Cemetery. Pastor Ila Lynn Nickerson officiating. Pallbearers will be Eva’s grandsons.
