Elizabeth Jean Forehand, 85, passed to her Heavenly Father Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, while residing at her home of 50 years in rural Hillsdale, Wis.

She was born July 19, 1921, at Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Elma (Fifer) Snook. As a symbol of her faith, she was baptized at First Christian Church, Newton. She attended schools in North Dakota and Newton, where she graduated from Newton High School at the age of 13.

She worked at the Newton Woolworth's store as a clerk, where she met Wayland "Nick" Forehand. They married at Bethany, Mo., on June 26, 1938. To them were born three children, Arden, Karen and Wayland.

Farming encompassed most of their married life, except when Nick was employed as a streetcar driver in Minneapolis, Minn. They moved to the family farm just west of Hillsdale in 1948. The couple purchased the present farm east of Hillsdale in 1957 and farmed there until 1984, when Nick passed away.

For many years, Elizabeth was an active member of the Hillsdale Homemakers Club, where she made many lifelong friends. She leaves a legacy of joyful service to others and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid reader, a trusted friend and a faithful servant of God. Her interests in life were her home, children and grandchildren, family and many dear friends.

Surviving are her children, Arden (Pat) of Cannon Falls, Minn., Karen (Robert) Varnam of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wayland of Barron; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Adelia Myers of Mankato, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Vivian Burt and Ruby Wheeler; a brother, George Snook; and an infant grandchild.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, from Prairie Lake Covenant Church, rural Chetek, Rev. Everett Wilson officiating, with burial at Wayside Cemetery, Barron.

Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday from Rausch-Rockman Funeral Home, Barron, and an hour prior to services at the church Friday. [Obtained 4 Jan 2007 from news-shield.com.]
