Catherine E. "Sissy" (Meehan) Dunn, lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away on April 13, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born on July 3, 1932 to Warren & Catherine (Doherty) Meehan. Sissy was raised in Melrose and graduated from St. Mary's High School. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Robert L. Dunn, and spent 26 years happily married. Mrs. Dunn raised her children in Melrose and was always a devoted mother. She loved to travel and over the years made trips to Ireland, Italy, France, and Switzerland. Sissy was also an avid reader, enjoyed baking and loved playing Keno and scratch tickets in her spare time. But one thing always came before everything else, her family. She loved being surrounded by family no matter what the occasion was. Sissy was particularly proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Dunn. Loving mother of Cathleen A. Dunn of Melrose, Patricia M. Trudeau & her husband William of Melrose, and Sheila J. McNeil & her husband Christopher of Middleton. Proud grandmother of Katie McNaught & her husband Jeff & Kassie Merrill & her husband Jason. Cherished great-grandmother of Beau, Riley, Max, Graham, & Emerson. Caring sister of Joseph Meehan of ME, MaryLou Christopher of Medford, Maureen Curdo & her husband Stephen of NH, James Meehan & his wife Patricia of Melrose, and the late AnnMarie Barbaro, Sheila Palmitesta, David Meehan, & Joan Harrington. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, & friends. Visiting Hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 w. Foster St., on Tuesday April 25, 2017 from 4-7 PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday April 26th at 9 AM, followed by a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose.
