On Tuesday night, November 15, 2016, Michael Dale Porterfield (who we all know as Chip) went to meet the Lord and his son Lance Dale Porterfield in the best roping pen in the sky. He was taken way too early in a pick-up accident in Springfield, MO.
Chip was born February 20th 1966. He is the son of Dolan and Lanora Porterfield. He has traveled all around the world rodeoing. He is most famous for throwing fast. He won numerous titles from the IPRA, PRCA, and MRCA Associations. Chip won the "Daddy of Them All" in Cheyenne, WY. He also won the biggest rodeo in St. Tite, Quebec, Canada.
Chip is survived by his father Dolan Porterfield; daughter, LaRae Smith (Thomas); and grandson Payden Smith; sister, Michele Vinson; Stefan Pearcey, Kamara, Lily, Jaison and Dalton Vinson and Summer Vinson.
Chip was preceded in death by his son Lance Porterfield and his mother Lanora Porterfield.
Burial in Brookline Cemetery.
