He was the son of the late Jule and Connie Murphy Wells. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Bolton and two brothers, Harry and Jimmy Wells.
Mr. Wells served his country in the U. S. Navy. He loved gardening and fishing and adored his grandchildren.
Survivors include the love of his life for 56 years, Patricia Goings Wells; sons, David Wells and wife Sharon of Cameron, NC and Mark Wells of Jonesborough, TN; daughter, Lisa Wells Newman and husband Randy of Fairview, NC; sister, Betty Franklin of Alexander, NC ; grandchildren, Sabina, Aubre, Matthew and Sarah Beth and one great granddaughter; Daphne.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military honors provided by the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
