Born in Middle Granville, N.Y. on December 23rd 1927, he was the son of the late John and Ruth (Park) Dooley.
Ed attended Granville High School where he played football.
He was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.
He had worked at Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville and then Grand Union for 26 years from 1954 until 1980.
Afterwards, he worked for the Washington County Highway Department for 11 years until 1991.
Following his retirement, Ed assisted his wife Evelyn with their business, Black Creek Flowers until 2005.
Ed lived in West Hebron, N.Y. for the last 55 years.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Andrea Helen Lourie; his siblings, John Dooley, Kenneth Dooley and a brother-in-law, John Mudgette.
Ed is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn (McCauliffe) Dooley whom he married September 11, 1955; his children, Brian E. (Diane) of Castleton, NY, David J. Dooley of West Hebron and Laurie A. Lourie of West Hebron. He is also survived by a sister, Elora Bianchine of Scotia; his grandchildren, Craig E. (Melissa) Dooley of Worcester, MA, Jordan D. Lourie of West Hebron, Bree E. (Josh) Franklin of Saratoga Springs, Damien J. Dooley of Salem and Meghan R. Lourie of West Hebron; 3 great grandchildren, Grace Andrea Dooley, Connor Ambrose Dooley and Jude William Franklin as well as many nieces and nephews.
Interment with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y.
