David was born on January 9, 1948 and passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
David was a resident of Auburn, New York at the time of his passing.
He graduated with high honors from Auburn Community College earning an Associate Degree in Science. David then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from NYS University of Buffalo.
He served in the Army National Guard from 1970-1976.
He was married to Jean.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday November 16 from 4-7PM at White Chapel Funeral Home 2719 Erie Dr. Weedsport. Service Thursday at 1 PM at the funeral home with calling hours from 11:30 AM to 1 PM prior to the service. Burial will be at the Weedsport Rural Cemetery.

AUBURN — David H. Thayer, 68, of Sittser Road, Auburn, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital, with his family by his side.

David was born in Auburn on Jan. 9, 1948, the only child of the late Harold A. and Florence Lanphere Thayer. He graduated with high honors from Auburn Community College, earning an associate degree in science. David then earned a Bachelor of Science degree from NYS University of Buffalo. He served in the Army National Guard from 1970-1976. David was employed at Columbian Rope, prior to working at ITT Goulds in Seneca Falls as a facility electrical engineer.


In his younger days, David enjoyed hunting, being in the outdoors, and more recently, RVing. He was a member of the Cayuga County Sportsmen's Association. David was happiest being with his wife and family.

David is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, and best friend, Jean A. Archambo Thayer; his children, Kenneth (Donna) O’Bryan and Darlene Greene; his beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Felisha) O’Bryan, Ashley O’Bryan, Gwendolyn Catalano, and Mackenzie Greene; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Andrew, and several close cousins.


In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jessica Mae O’Bryan.
