Lawrence was the son of the late Richard and Maudie Givens Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Flora Ridings and Lora Maxwell; and one brother: Clarence (Dood) Lawson.

Step-son: Johnny Hodge of Fonde, KY
Daughter: Melissa (Harley) Lambdin of Pruden, KY
Two step-daughters: Carolyn and Claude Ellison of Speedwell, TN, and Linda and Steve Jones of Pineville, KY.
