John B. Galbraith - age 70, of Laurens, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.
John Blaine Galbraith was born June 13, 1946 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of Ralph and Grace (Robarge) Galbraith. John graduated from Hibbing High School in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1964. He then went on to attend Hibbing Junior College for Forestry and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in 1969. On June 20, 1970, John married Linda Lagerquist in Bloomington, Minnesota. The couple lived in Minnesota and in Illinois before settling in Laurens in 1989. They operated a variety store in Pine Island, Minnesota and later in Laurens. John went on to work at Scrivner Foods, Fleming, Trinity Regional Medical Center and for the Laurens - Marathon School District as a custodian and bus driver.
John was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and Laurens Chamber of Commerce. He was a past president of the Laurens Kiwanis and was a past president of the Pine Island Lions, where he received an Outstanding Young Businessmen’s Award. John was a huge NASCAR fan, he loved hunting, fishing, boating, being outdoors and watching hockey.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Laurens; children, Nicole (Mike) Murray of Shakopee, MN and Anna (Ryan) Buck of Ames; a grandson, Liam Murray and several cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents.
