Paul served as a Corporal, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut and was a member of the Connecticut National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, from New Britain, Connecticut. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Paul was declared "Missing In Action on Leyte, Philippine Islands during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
