She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1940 and became a very successful executive secretary. She never had a boss who didn’t say she was the very best they ever had. They greatly depended upon her to correct their grammar, spelling and punctuation. After retirement from the Constantine Foundation in Dallas, she returned to Mt. Pleasant and served as a full-time Grandmother and receptionist for the First Baptist Church. Dorothy was very frugal, but gave privately and selflessly to the less fortunate. She was a 54 year member of the Rebekah Lodge, serving many roles including Noble Grand.

She loved to fish, sing, dance and was a pro playing those pearly keys and enjoyed being the pianist for her Sunday School class in her earlier years. Dorothy was happiest spending time with her grand and great grandchildren and playing with her adored dogs Beaucoup and Pepper.
