US Congressman. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 23rd district for one term, from January 1977 until January 1979. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he graduated from Dickinson College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1948 and received his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in 1950. Served as US attorney for Pennsylvania's Western District (1961 to 1963) and the Pennsylvania State Senate (1970 to 1977). In 1976 he received the Democratic nomination for Congress and was elected, defeating incumbent Republican candidate Albert W. Johnson. He ran for re-election in 1978 but was defeated by his Republican challenger, Bill Clinger. Upon leaving Congress, he returned to Pennsylvania and served as a judge in Clearfield County. He died at the age of 69.
