James John Plazio, 81, of the Riverview section of Parks, died Tuesday (April 15, 2003) in his home.

Born March 16, 1922, in Leechburg, he lived in the Riverview area for 55 years.

An Army veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of staff sergeant.

He was a roller in the Bagdad plant of Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Leechburg works, before retiring in 1984,

Mr. Plazio was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church in Vandergrift.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Hazel L. Klingensmith Plazio; four sons, James (Monica) Plazio of Oklahoma Borough, David Plazio of Cleveland, Tony Plazio of Sarver and Richard (Melissa) Plazio of Parks; two daughters, Mrs. Delores (George) Miller of Vandergrift and Sharon Plazio of Riverview; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Domenic Plazio of Washington Township, his twin, Samuel (Betty) Plazio of Apollo and Francis (Kay) Plazio of Vandergrift.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Plazio Denham, in 1994; his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Fenoglietto Plazio; and two brothers, Charles and Joseph Plazio.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. Officiating will be the Rev. Thaddeus Rettger. A memorial Mass will be celebrated April 26 in St. Gertrude Church, Vandergrift, at a time to be announced. Arrangements are being handled by the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME INC., Apollo.
