Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Frances Hoyt, 84, of Laddonia, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church in Laddonia, with Father Paul Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Laddonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hoyt passed away at 12:03 p.m., October 28, 2016 at her home. She was born March 30, 1932 in Farber, the daughter of Walter Sylvester, Sr. and Margaret Elisabeth Louise Woodson Terry. She was married to Laurance Joseph Hoyt, Sr. on March 1, 1952 in Laddonia and he survives.

Other survivors include: five sons and daughter-in-laws, Laurance, Jr. (Larry) and Kathy Hoyt, Terry and Joy Hoyt , Anthony Hoyt and Timothy and Jan Hoyt, and Michael Hoyt; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddie Stone; one sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Terry; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Walter Terry, Jr. and Thomas Terry; one infant sister, Margaret Ann Terry; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Hoyt; one grandson, Matthew Hoyt and one great grandchild, Samantha Martin.

Mrs. Hoyt was a lifetime area resident and 1950 graduate of Farber High School. She worked in the garment industry before her marriage and becoming a farm wife. She was a very active member of St. John's Catholic church and served as communion minister and CCD teacher. She was a member of St. John's Altar and Rosary Society and was the co-coordinator of St. John's Food Pantry. In addition to helping her husband on the farm, she was a member of the Young Mother's Extension Club, and the Cheerful Homemakers Club. She served as a Cub Scout leader for several years and a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed bowling and received the bowling living award as well as being inducted into the Vandalia Bowl Hall of Fame. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Browns and the St. Louis Cardinals. Gardening, taking care of her roses, canning and cooking, quilting, and keeping books were a normal part of her day. She was an avid reader and worked crossword puzzles but one of her favorite past times was making and decorating cakes and wedding cakes. She was a loving wife and mother, and did an amazing job of raising six kids.

Pallbearers will be Larry, Terry, Anthony, Timothy, and Michael Hoyt and Eddie Stone.
