Helen A. Fondessy, 91, of Genoa, Ohio and formerly of Clay Center, Ohio, died Saturday December 30, 2006 in the Genoa Retirement Village Care Center. Helen was born in Curtice, Ohio on June 9, 1915 to John and Marie (Schultz) Diefenthaler. She married Nelson A. Fondessy in Williston, Ohio on June 29, 1940 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1991.
Helen was a homemaker until 1952 and from then until 1970 she worked for the former Ottawa Basket Company. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio and was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #7510 in Clay Center. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Nelson, and camped in many areas of the United States.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Wayne & Dorothy Fondessy of Genoa, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Elizabeth Buck, Madeline Bruntz, Gladys Claussen, and brothers, Otto and Arthur Diefenthaler.
Services: At her request, Helen was cremated and a memorial service will be scheduled and announced during the month of April, 2007. Interment: Will be next to her beloved husband Nelson, in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio.
Memorials: Contributions may be made in Helen's name to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District, Station #3, 6th Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430. Arrangements are being handled by the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St. Genoa, Ohio.
