Born in Jacksonville, FL., his parents are the late Benjamin Franklin Hickox and Peggy Jean Hutson Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Hickox.
James worked as a mechanic for the School Bus System. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, his Turkey "Bitsy", and was a member of South Middleburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Casey Hickox, of Middleburg, FL.; two sons, Corey Hickox and Chad Hickox, of Flemming Island, FL.; four stepchildren, Samuel Hense, and Benjamin Hense, both of St. Augustine, Olivia Hense and Amelia "Boo Boo" Hense, both of Middleburg, FL; one grandchildren, Corey James "Buford" Hickox, of Middleburg, FL.; his mother, Peggy Jean Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL.; 5 brothers, Victor Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL, Glenn Hickox, of Sebastian, FL., Richard Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL., Maxie Hickox, of Lawtey, FL., and Johnny Hickox, of Middleburg, FL; and one sister, Laura Hickox, of Clay Hill, FL. Also several other relatives and friends.
A Graveside service will be held Saturday (November 19, 2016) at 11AM at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the cemetery.
