Russell Lowell Grant, 72, long-time Ferndale resident, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2009. Russell was born to Lowell James and Agness E. (Lofdahl) Grant on June 30, 1937, in Ferndale, WA. He graduated in 1955 from Ferndale High School. In Russell's words about high school, "this is the best time of your life, go have fun." Russell loved his high school years, music, and making people laugh. Soon after school, he met and married his beloved, Lynda Patrick, of Bellingham. Russell worked for the Whatcom County Road Department for 30 years, where he would hand out a piece of Wrigley's gum to any kid he saw. He purchased Grant's Drive-In with Lynda, where you would get a Dum Dum's sucker and a cute joke with every meal.

Russell is survived by his wife, Lynda, Ferndale; his daughters, Rhonda (Brad) Oxford, Ferndale, Tracy (Keith) Depew, Georgia, and Kimberly Fox, Ferndale; six grandchildren that Russell loved to tease; sisters, Helen Grant, Charlotte (Larry) Wickkiser; brother, Sherman (Lori) Grant; sisters-in-law, Lolita (Quentin) Peterson, Wilma (Delbert) Johnson, and Patricia (Roger) Buss; brothers-in-law, Leland (Erdyne) Patrick, Robert (Jeannie) Patrick, and Michael (Pedi-Sue) Patrick. He was prceded by his parents, his parents-in-law, sister-in-law, Dolores Grimme-Zwicker, and brother-in-law, Gary Patrick. The family would like to wish Lynda and Russell a happy 50th anniversary (November 14) We love you, Dad. There will be a visitation on Monday, August 31, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Moles Funeral Home, 2039 Main Street, Ferndale. A private family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, September 1, at 11:00 AM. A Memorial Service will follow at Ferndale High School gym, at 12:00 PM.
