Andrew Torgerson was born October 15, 1865, in Winneshiek County, IA. His parents came from Norway and settled near Spring Grove, MN. He met his wife, Carrie Share, while working at a general store in LeRoy. They married in 1887 in LeRoy and moved to Adams. Mr. Torgerson was one of the early merchants of Adams, building a general store and later the Farmers State Bank.
Andrew was the first school board clerk of the newly consolidated school district in Adams, being elected in June of 1916.
