Born May 30, 1964, in Hanover, he was the son of Dale V. Shaffer, Sr. and Mary J. (Roser) Wickson, and the step-son of Margaret P. Shaffer and Daniel Wickson.
Dale was a 1982 graduate of South Western High School, Hanover. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly from 1982 to 1986 and earning the rank of SP4. Dale worked in sales at Utz Quality Foods, Inc., for thirty years until August of 2016.
Dale was a History buff, was a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles, and loved his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dale is survived by his siblings, Julie A. Myers and her husband, Michael of Spring Grove, Stephanie M. Gray and her husband, Andrew of Mechanicsburg, and Neil M. Johnson of Columbia, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
A time to visit and share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with a memorial service at 8 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
