Martin M. Severson, youngest child of Mons and Raghnilde Severson was born on June 17, 1883, in Marshall Township and was called to rest Monday evening, July 26th, 1954, after a lingering illness, at the age of 71 years, 1 month, and 9 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Little Cedar Lutheran Church and was a member of this church all his life. He spent his entire life farming on the place where he was born. On April 2, 1913, he was united in marriage to Nora Erager of Kenyon, Minnesota, and to this union five children were born.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Nora; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Flaten (Rosella) of Kenyon, and Mrs. Laurel Nelson (Bertha) of Austin, and two sons, Francis of Brownsdale, and Maurice of Adams. Also 6 grandsons and 2 granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Mary Peterson of West Union, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth, who passed away on December 1, 1953, also his parents, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Starken, and Mrs. Anne Tufte, and three brothers, Ole, Sever and Erick.
Mr. Severson was a faithful church worker, a devoted husband, and father, and a true and loyal friend. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives, and friends. Blessed be his memory.
Funeral services held on Friday, July 30, 1954 from the farm home at 1:30 and from the Little Cedar Lutheran Church at 2:00. Quartet composed of H.E. Lunde, Nora Torgerson, Marjorie Osmundson, and M.L. Witte sang, "Under His Wings," and "The Old Rugged Cross."
