Thompsie J. Baker, 77, of 835 N. Walnut St., formerly of Virden, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 1965.

An employee of Allis-Chalmers Mfg. Co. for 14 years, retiring nine years ago, Mr. Baker had been a resident of Springfield for 22 years.

A son, Marion, preceded him in death.

Mr. Baker was a member of Kumler Methodist Church, Oldt Timers Retirement Club of Allis-Chalmers; 1027 Retirees Club UAW-CIO.

Surviving are his wife, Vesta Jane Marr Baker; four sons, Travis S. and Melvin L. both of Litchfield; Robert E. of St. Louis, Mo.; and Thomas J. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five daughters, Mrs. Elva Myers and Mrs. Lenora J. Thompson, both of Springfield; Mrs. Jerry Moss of Jacksonville; Mrs. Bette Merrill of West Covina, Calif.; and Mrs. Joyce Rushing of Springfield; four brothers, Twyman of Greensburg, Ky.; Demon of Portland, Ky.; Verner of Columbia, Ky.; Vester of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Vera Bryant of Fairplay, Ky.; Mrs. Lois Gist of Gradyville, Ky.; Mrs. Irene Crum of Clearwater, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were at Bisch Memorial Home.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
