Hugh C. Halfhill, 73, of Mt. Braddock, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at home. He was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Mt. Braddock, to the late Charles Ivan Halfhill and Mary Belle Nedrow Halfhill. He was the husband of Shirley A. Lynch Halfhill. He was retired from Steel Scaffolding as a welder. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 527 and an avid hunter. He was a member of Pechin Chapel. He is survived by his children, Karen Landman and her husband, Donald, of Dunbar, Mary Jean Halfhill, of Dunbar, and Brenda Henderson, of Dunbar; grandchildren, Donna Wingrove and her husband, Shad, of Dunbar, Donald Landman and his wife, Tara, of Lemont Furnace, Dan Landman and his wife, Jenn, of Dunbar, Mark Halfhill and his wife, Erin, of Dunbar, Chastity Halfhill, of Dunbar, Brandon Henderson, of Dunbar, and Brandi Henderson, of Dunbar; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Loren Halfhill and his wife, Jessie; five sisters, Edith Lowery, Mary Helen Halfhill, Shirley Coleman and her husband, Tom, Nancy Watson and her husband, Paul, and Karen "Honey Lou" and her husband, Paul Matthews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Hugh C. Halfhill Jr. and Jason Lee Halfhill; brothers, Harold "Buck" Halfhill, James Halfhill, Walter "Popeye" Halfhill, Charles Halfhill, Robert Halfhill and Phillip Halfhill; sisters, Jane Ribniscky, Virginia Balsley and Phyllis Halfhill. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville St., Dunbar. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Maley officiating. Interment in Zaring-Matthews Cemetery.
