He was born in that same home on November 6th 1925, the son of Malcolm Burge and Adah (Campbell) Douglas.
Bob graduated from Shoreham High School in 1943.
He married Betty Buda Bohne on November 17th 1946 in Bennington, Vermont.
He owned Douglas Orchards in Shoreham, Vt.
He also worked as rural mail carrier for many years.
Bob served on the business committee of the Shoreham Congregational Church for decades, was a member of the Shoreham Volunteer Fire Department and the Shoreham Historical Society.
He also served the town in various capacities and was a longtime member of the Lake View Cemetery Association in Shoreham, Vt.
Bob married Betty Bohne in 1946. Bob and Betty celebrated their 15th anniversary by buying a piece of land on Cody Brook in Lincoln.
Weekends for several summers were devoted to building a camp with Vermont thrift and lots of help from friends, using salvaged flooring and timbers from other projects. Trout fishing, games of horseshoes and many picnics and parties were enjoyed there over the years.
Bob enjoyed working in his shop, repairing orchard equipment and vehicles, and producing toys, furniture and Adirondack chairs.
Sailing on Lake Champlain and bowling in Fair Haven, Vt. with lunches at the Wheel Inn were favorite pastimes in later years.
He also enjoyed woodcarving and for several retirement years, Blood Brothers Carvers met twice a month around the dining table.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Esther Foster; his sister, Laura Kivlin; and his nephew, Stephen Kivlin.
