Irene Elliott, 91, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away November 4, 2016 in San Marcos, Texas.
Irene was born on September 29, 1925 in Simpson, Louisiana to Elon Miller and Ethyl (Bennett) Miller. She grew up in the state-border area of Newton County, Texas and Vernon Parish, Louisiana. In 1943, she went off to Nursing School in Shreveport, Louisiana where she met and, in 1946, married her husband Benge. By 1952, she and her husband, Dr. Benge Elliott, were in San Marcos where they raised their three sons.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents and by her only sibling, a sister, Edna Mae Emmons of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Irene is survived by her husband, Dr. Benge Elliott of San Marcos; son, Benge Jr. (Beverley) Elliott of San Marcos; son, Michael (Elsa) Elliott of Cochabamba, Bolivia; son, David (Deborah) Elliott of San Marcos; two grandchildren, Joshua (Priscilla) Elliott of Austin, Texas and Erika Elliott of Norco, California; two great-grandchildren, Jan Michael Veizaga and Thalia Veizaga, both of Manassas, Virginia; a nephew, Barry (Claire) Blackwell of Lake Charles, Louisiana and a niece, Glenda (Chuck) Hong of Houston, Texas.
A Memorial will be held at the San Marcos City Cemetery Chapel. If weather is inclement the memorial will be held at Pennington Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the “Heart to Heart Hospice, 1340 Wonder World Dr., San Marcos, Texas 78666″ for their TLC during her final days and the commitment to long-term care provided by the exceptional staff at “Sodalis Memory Care, 1001 Crepe Myrtle St, San Marcos, Texas 78666.” In lieu of flowers donations can be made to one of these institutions.
