He was born on January 29, 1929 in Fremont to Wesley J. and Frances J. (Kwiatkowski) Nicholas.
Donald married Eloise Hawk on June 10, 1950 in Fremont at St. Ann Catholic Church and she survives.
He was employed at Al Baumann Chevrolet as a Sales Representative for 40 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Loyal Order of Moose and former member of Sycamore Golf Course and Fremont Country Club. He loved bowling, woodworking, and was a good ball player.
Donald is survived by his wife, Eloise Nicholas; children, Sherry Nicholas, Jim (Wanda) Nicholas, Sandy (Dave) May, Jerry Nicholas all of Fremont, Donald "Nick" Nicholas, Jr., Put-in-Bay; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1021 W. State St., Fremont, OH.
Memorial Mass will be Saturday, January 2, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Church following the visitation, with Fr. Thomas Extejt officiating. Memorials may be made to Donor's Choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory. Online Condolences at:
