Donald Dean Hughes, 54, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Seward, Nebraska. He was born on February 1, 1962 to Duane Ray and Carrol Kay (Schultz) Hughes in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He attended Belmont Elementary School, Goodrich Junior High and Lincoln High School all in Lincoln, Nebraska. Don worked for Hartman Construction in Seward, Nebraska for the past 16 years as a heavy machine operator. He had excellent carpentry skills and worked in the construction business for more than 35 years.

Don loved to fish – anywhere, anytime. Fishing was by far his favorite hobby. He especially treasured fishing trips with his son, Troy. We believe that he is already finding the best fishing spots in Heaven.

He loved cheering on Husker football, playing pool, listening to music, carpentry, camping, watching the races and grilling out with family and friends. He also has a dog, Jack, which he deeply loved.

He is survived by: his children, Tiffany (Jack) Weeks, Troy (Heather) Hughes and Jamie Hughes; sister, Donna Weldon; grandchildren, Callaway Weeks, Cooper Weeks, Walker Weeks, Emersyn Weeks, Bryar Hughes; special nieces and nephews; best friend and companion, Jack.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Carrol Hughes, and brother, David Hughes.
