On Friday, September 9, 2016, Arthur Thomas Terry went home to the Lord and to reunite with his beloved wife Josephine. They had been happily married for 72 years.

Art is survived by three children, Arlene (Larry-deceased), JoAnn (Robert), and Artie (Sudie); 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren; sisters Vivian and Alfi and many nieces and nephews.

He was born on September 20, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York. Art first met Josephine when he was 14 and she was 12 and his reaction was "wow". He went to Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, VA and played clarinet in the school band.

After that Art enlisted in the Navy a choice that became his career for 20 years.

Arthur and Josephine we married on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944. His ship was sent to the South Pacific shortly after that. Art was transferred to the Washington, DC area in Anacostia. Later he was made Chief of Naval Personnel at Andrews Air Force Base (Naval Air Reserve Training Unit) NARTU and was there for 20 years. After Art retired from the Navy, he continued to serve his country, working for NSA at Fort Meade and worked for his country another 20 years.

Art was a worrier. He worried about everything, his wife, his children, his yard and it was always on his epitaph it would read "Worry no more".

Art's whole life was devoted to his family and his country and he was so proud of both. He always wanted us all to "love each other" because he said that's what family is about.

"We love you daddy, and God Bless us all". You have blessed us all.
