Clyde Welch, 91, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Odessa. Clyde was born on January 17, 1925 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Walter Leland Welch and Bertie Newman Welch. He was raised in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Army on July 13, 1943, trained at Fort Benning, Georgia, and served during WWII. He had served in North Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium, and Germany. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany with the Army of Occupation. He served in the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles as a paratrooper. He married Laura Faye Hillsamer in 1947. He had worked as a roughneck in the oil industry in Florida, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas. He moved to Andrews in 1960, where he owned and operated Welch Western Shell from 1962-1990. He married LaVada Jean Walker on January 19, 1985 in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his wife on November 25, 2001, his parents, and 1 brother, Leland Welch. He was a Baptist.
