Clement served as a Private, 31st Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Litchfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 8, 1941, prior to the war, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents,

He was taken prisoner in the capture of the Bataan Peninsula & Corregidor, Philippine Islands in April & May, 1942. He was held at Japanese POW Camp 4, O'donnel, Tarlac, Luzon, Philippines 15-120.

Clement "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army during the war.

He was awarded the "Silver Star", Prisoner Of War Medal, and the Purple Heart.

Service # 6276547

Note: Clement enlisted the same day and in the same place as Private First Class Bronis J. Stanevich who was also from Connecticut. They were possibly brothers and/or cousins.
