From the Monitor Review, September 20, 1979:

Karen S. Sathre, 85, was born June 30, 1894 in Marshall Township, Adams, daughter of Peder Johannes and Berthina Monson Sathre.

She resided in Crookston, Mn., Hope, North Dakota and for the past 40 years in Adams, Mn. She attended Adams grade school, Austin High School and Crookston Business College in Crookston, Mn. She also attended Gregg School of Shorthand in Chicago. During World War I she did secretarial work in the War and Navy Building in Washington D.C. for one year. She taught business classes at Crookston College and at one time was employed in a bank in Hope, North Dakota.

She was a member of the ALCW at Little Cedar Lutheran Church and also Mission Circle No.8, also a past member of the Eastern Star.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Little Cedar Lutheran, which she held steadfast to her faith throughout her lifetime. She was tenderly and faithfully cared for by her sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Elizabeth Nelson in their home for the past 2-1/2 months, also by her sister, Hattie, nieces and nephews. She entered the Adams Health Care Center a short while ago having suffered from lymphoma cancer of the stomach the past six months. She passed away September 10, 1979 at 1:30 p.m.

Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Joy Nelson of Adams, Mn., and another sister, Mrs. Hattie Bowen of Fargo, North Dakota, together with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Karen and her twin brother Alfred, faithfully cared for their sister, Nora, during her illness of 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother Alfred, twin brothers, Edwin and Henry, brother Johnny B. of Austin, and sister Nora. She was very kind and devoted to her family, her neighbors and those with whom she associated and will be sadly missed by many who knew her.

Services were held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Little Cedar Church with Rev. Allen Gunderson officiating. Congregational singing was used - hymns, How Great Thou Art, Jesus Still Lead On, Behold A Host, accompanied by Mrs. David Anderson, organist.

Casket bearers were Lloyd Boyum, David Sathre, Basil Bellrichard, Earl Lewison, Daniel Sathre, Brian Huseby. Interment was in Little Cedar cemetery.

Blessed be her memory.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Fargo, North Dakota, Minneapolis, Winona, Rochester, LeRoy, Austin, Taopi, Elkton, Grand Meadow, Rose Creek, Lyle, Lake City, Brooklyn Park and West Concord, Mn.
