From The Monitor Review, April 4, 1974:

Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church for Alfred M. Sathre, Rev. Wayne Quibell and Rev. V. O. Aaker of Rochester officiated. Music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. Wayne Quibell and Mrs. Loren Nelson accompanied by Gloria Huseby, organist.

Pall bearers were grand nephews, Johnnie Sathre, Scott Sathre, Lynn Sathre, Brian Huseby, Mark Bellrichard, and Lloyd Boyum.

Committal services were held at the Church immediately following the funeral service. Interment was at Little Cedar cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Fargo, North Dakota, Minneapolis, Cosmos, Rochester, West Concord, Lyle, Rose creek, Austin, LeRoy, Grand Meadow, Whittier, California, Rockford, Illinois, Winona, Dodge Center, Brownsdale, Decorah, Iowa, Oakland and Elkton, Minnesota.

Alfred M. Sathre was born in Marshall Township, Adams, June 30, 1894, the son of Peder Johannes and Berthina Monson Sathre. He passed away, March 26, 1974 at his home at the age of 79 years. He had been in failing health the past year.

He lived in the Adams community almost all of his life and attended school there. Later he took a Business Course at the Crookston Business College, Crookston, Minnesota.

In 1935 he moved to Adams from the farm with his parents, and later was employed at the Hormel Co. where he worked for 20 years, and retired in 1962.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a life long member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church, where he served in various capacities. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine, and the Star Chapter for many years.

Alfred is survived by three sisters, Karen and Elizabeth (Mrs. Joy Nelson) of Adams and Mrs. Hattie Bowen of Fargo, North Dakota. Also a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Sathre, Austin, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and his parents.

He was very kind and devoted to his family, his neighbors and those he associated with and will be sadly missed by many who knew him.
