Alice M. Prescott, 98, died December 29, 1987 at the Adams Health Care Center. She was born on July 6, 1889 near Marshalltown, IA. She grew up and attended school in the Marshalltown area. In 1900 she moved with her family to South Dakota. She was a seamstress by trade.

On March 2, 1911, Alice married Joseph Prescott at Heimer, South Dakota. They resided there until 1918 when they moved to Iowa. They came to Adams in 1922 and Alice has since resided here. She was a member of the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, the ALCW and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Lillie and Ruth Prescott, Adams, MN; Julia and Lenus Ekstrand, Missoula, MT; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Florence Prescott and Frieda Prescott, Adams, MN; a nephew Lloyd Hughes, Thornton, IA.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, George and Martin and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 4, 1988 at Little Cedar Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jon Eckstrand, Gale, Allen, David, Thomas, Donald and Charles Prescott.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alice was born July 6, 1889, and baptized in 1904. She was confirmed at Little Cedar November 21, 1939. She married Joseph Prescott and they farmed in South Dakota until they moved to this community in 1930. She remembers in the early 1900's that church services were held in the school house in South Dakota.

Alice resides in Adams with her two daughters, Ruth and Lillie Prescott. Another daughter, Julia (Mrs. Lenus Ekstrand) resides in Missoula, Montana. She had two sons, George and Martin, both deceased.

Her favorite hymn is "Beautiful Savior." Her favorite Bible verses are: Psalm 23, John 14:23-27, and Luke 13:34.
